My first Intrigue in many, many moons releases today and I thought you might enjoy a little background info on the story. For those of you who followed Amelia in The Graveyard Queen series, you’ll remember her phobias of spiders and close places. I don’t suffer too terribly from arachnophobia or claustrophobia, but Pine Lake taps into my very real fear of heights and more specifically, of falling. I happened upon this article in the Daily Mail one day and was both fascinated and freaked out by the bizarre sleepwalking incident. So meet the inspiration for Olive Belmont, the heroine in Pine Lake:
She was more of a steepwalker than a sleepwalker. A passerby could barely believe his eyes when he saw a body curled up on the counterweight of a 130ft crane at 2am. The rescue operation his 999 call set in play revealed that the body belonged to a 15-year-old girl… who was fast asleep and blissfully unaware of her perilous predicament.
